Sorry, it has been a while, but now I am back. The preparations to start into the Wildheart took a little bit longer than expected. The adventurerer met a high deligate from the Stormhanse. When they arrived in Grim Village, the big harbour in Ejdland, they were encountered by Remlaug Torolv one of the leaders of the Stormhansa. He invited them to his "humble" estate in the center of town. But first they went shopping and bought better armour to survive the next Trolls even better.
In the evening they entered Remlaugs villa and seemed very impressed by the tasteful but extraordinary facilities. During a banquet Remlaug offered them a job as swordhands, to transport some draugh drops to the arenas in Fynnheim. Because winter is on the doorstep and no ship will pass Vaaga at this time there was only the way through Wildheart. And because his usual swordhands are far too superstitious he dcame to the adventurers. With some silver he managed them in accepting the job and the preparations would be of the kind, so they could leave the day after tomorrow. They would get some mules and enough provisions for the long jurney through the woods. First part of the way were in civilized country they already traveled the last weeks. So there were no unexpected encounters. The inns on there way gave good food and good beds for all of them. Since they were in mission for the Stormhansa everything went very smoothly. When they arrived at Stigor, their mules and the adventurers were shipped by raft up the Blacktear River, right through the outskirts of the Wildheart. At a big cataract the were set on land again and were left by good. From now on the forest was the only thing they would encounter for the next weeks.
The weather was very foggy and the dark trees hindered most of the sunlight to reach the ground. The adventure begins...

Good to have you back.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading throuhg your „setting up“ for the adventurers to come to Wildheart.

Shopping adventureres, they are a nuisance to the troll world, always coming out with tougher shells.

And it started... The heroes entered the Wildheart. It was a little foggy and rainy but they were of good cheer to pass this forrest as soon as possible. They seemed very lucky when they built a camp just in a nearly perfect place. The watches came and went and when the young Geveling was almost a the end of the last watch it happened: She heard a crack of a breaking twig. Suddenly she recognized an old man staring at her. He drew his thumb over his throut, pointed in her direction and vanished. She was not sure if she was awake or slept since this was so very surrealistic. She woke up everyone else and as they watched the surroundig the place did not look like the place they built up camp last evening. Where the hell were they???
They run in the direction where the old man was spotted and found a freshly broken stick but no other tracks. They were very desorientated but knew that they had to go north. So the zvorda used his survivalskills and since he was the only one who was absolutely sure of the direction to go (a 20 is a 20...) they moved north with the sun in their faces... and followd some kind of animalpaths. During the time they learned that their tracks vanished about ten minutes after passing. There was no real way back.. They were lost. Lost in a place where you must not get lost on any cost. It would have been days running in circles since the Wildheart is an evil forrest, the most evil organism you can emagine. And for two days they did just this. But they were lucky and found the lair of a Brascelworm. Since he was blind they were turned into statues immidiately but the brascelworm told them he could be of some help understnading this forrest if they would kill his enemy the lidwurm. They just had to keep a pine cones and five days later they would stumble into the lindwurms lair.

That was the first days in the Wildheart. I am pritty sure there will be many more if they do not try to fight that lindwurm ;)

That is a cool story.

I very much appreciate it that the brascelworm was blind to keep the alive and kicking.
But man, it gave them informations. That is a hard coin in that part of the world.
All the planning and scheming and then comes the blind worm wriggling around the corner to save the day for the wayfarers. :)

Cheers for telling us about your PCs and their adventure. :)

And here we go again. Hot in the rl outside but nasty cold and wet in the Wildheart... A real challenge for the immagination of everyone :)

So last time the heroes got some pine cone and followed their empathy to go to the lindworm. The more they discussed the less they were convinced to overcome a real lindwurm. Maybe it was a very small one just a baby lindwurm... But the were really sure it wasn't. So they rested another night in the Wildheart... and nothing special happened. The next morning they still were in that place they lay down so there was some reinsurance that the forrest was not that evil... If they knew ;) But as destiny is, they almost stumbled over a dead hunter. There they found an arrow with a piece of paper bound to its shaft and some scribbled words on a piece of leather. Nothing made sense and they were absolutely sure that the hunter went mad in this forrest. another day went by and they still followed the pine cone as suddenly a really big white elch came into vision. That majestic animal lokked at them but withdrew within seconds. The warg hunter whio was skilled in tracking wild animals managed to follow the track of the elch and so they arrived at a clearing within a crack of a really large boulder. And there was some kind of twisted hut.
There they met a beardless dwarf who was a little shy. But with the zvorda with them he came out his hut. They were very lucky because this dwarf was already many years in the Wildheart. He knew about some places and how to reach them, told them, that the elch was his friend. If they wanted to leave Wildheart they had to know the answers of some riddles. He did not know how many and where to search exactly but told them how to reach the dwarfstones by humming an old dwarven song.

The the session ends for this time. Now they know what to do, just find the riddles and solf them. But where to start? And was the dead hunter really that crazy? Many questions but they are on track.

That sounds like a quite leisurely stroll in the woods. Tea and cake are missing though. And some sweets by the name „Eat me“. :)

Joking aside, cheers for the battle report. The tension is rising, the despair is low. More good things to come and skull to crack.

Too many workload right now and a little illness in the last weeks so we didn't play every two weeks and if we played I had no time to post our summary... But tomorrow we will meet again (online) and I have some time to summerize the results so far.
But where have we stopped:

Last time our heroes met an old dwarf who explained how to reach the dwarfstones and about a lake. The big elch that was the dwarfes friend would be able to take them to that lake. So they made rest in a dry and cmforting place and told the fwarf about the situation outside the wildheart as if that matterd somehow. And they shared food as it is common in he stormlands.
The next morning the elch showed them the way towards the lake and they arrived about noon. Some strange shadows were hiding near the lake but run away as the heros tried to get in contact. Clear water the lake has not but on the ground they spotted some kind of metallic glimmer. Since they new about a secret what a ring on the ground of the lake was made of, they tried to reach it. First to try was the warg hunter, but the lake became ever deeper and deeper and so he turned and just reached the air before drowning. Then the stormlander tried his luck and failed. The third was the small changeling who managed to dive deeper as the other two and when she tried to lay her fingers around the ring a gigantic fish came into sight talking to her in the mind. She was allowed to take the ring but only for her soul. She didn't hasitate an was lightly giving her soul for that ring though the fish told her she would get another soul probably. A very foolish but consequent behaviour ;)
And she really got lucky. The fish examined her sould and gave it back, too much smell like moshrooms he told her. And what she could have been...
When she arrived in fresh air she held the ring in her hands. The fish even told her what material this plain ring was made of. And suddenly the trolls that were hidden in the bushes moved foreward gesticulating and making some noise. They examined the Changeling very closely and seemed to be very hostile. But hey didn't find what they were looking for and left the playe again.

After this encounter the heroes tried to sing or hum the dwarven song and in the evening they reached a standing stone. After removing some moss and other plants the found some words engraved in the stone, talking about some tomb and a person or location called bullbark and how to go there. First they tried to reach bullbark by showing fear and anxiaty, what really worked. This wood is really strange. Suddenly they recognized a very loud snoring coming from a youg sleeping giant. They tried to wake him up and were evantually successful. He was a very tired giant and they had to use every entertaining abilities they had to keep him awake. He was a joiful fellow and told them some things about the wildheart, even the legends of old. But some time later he fell asleep again and they lefft humming that dwarfsong again to reach the standing stone.

There they discussed the night over how to reach dwarven tomb. The engraved text told them to behave like a knave and that was what they did. It is really interesting to see into the abyss of human (and haftroll) minds. That was not nice at all but it worked and they reached the dwarven tomb in the evening. There they successfully opened the doors and went inside. Just by cance the changeling recognize some secret doors in a long corridor but they were not strong enough to move them. 'So the changeling managed to conjur a change in the stone so they could enter the secret passage just to be stopped by a closed door. The stormlander made some tries to open the lock and finally made it. In the meantime the other heroes followed the main corridor just to almost fall into a very steep pit trap. But only almost ;)

With this almost death the last session ended and tomorrow we will see if the tomb will be theirs...
