Re: Media
Well, I'm a big fan of Amon Amarth. I really recommend them.
Reading the books with their last album in background is super cool and I saw that in Runes of Memory there is also a quote from them.
"The Berserker at Stanford Bridge" and "Ironside" gave me inspiration for at least two npc, for example.

Sounds really great Björn.
At the moment I am enjoying a wonderful band with very powerful ideas and performances that I want to recommend you in return of your good hint:
Percival Schuttenbach. They are quite famous for their work on the soundtrack for the Witcher 3 game.
They provide me with the perfect mood and good ideas to ponder upon when I am thinking about Trudvang.

Re: Media
I really like Amon Amarth, and when writing Runes of Memory I couldn't help but include a reference to one of my favorite songs by them.
There are also a few other nods in RoM to other metal bands, though perhaps not as obvious as the one to Amon.

@Mellekai: thanks, I started with the witcher's soundtrack and it's really cool.
I wish to add new ideas: the soundtrack from Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2 have some pieces that really create an atmosphere.
Also, mongolian throat singing (I'm thinking about The Hu, but any throat singing can do the job maybe) make me think about people of nhoordland or stormlander wildfolk.
@tmar: I just finished reading RoM and that was really something, probably my favourite so far. I'm thinking of modifying our campaign to fit it in as soon as possible.

@Björn: good recommendations, indeed. I am a long time fan of The Hu.
I can throw some more, too. Try Dream Reaper by Dzivia for great mood music.
And have a look into the groups Munknörr and Herknungr. I simply find all their albums interesting and inspiring.
