Terrain type and Exploration Points from Hex-play?

I have a question about achieving Exploration Points from Hex-play (the table at page 29).

Suppose the characters has travelled 2 hexagons into Wilderness and therefore have got 8 Exploration Points (3 Exploration Points of Wilderness hex 1 and 5 Exploration Points of Wilderness hex 2). How many Exploration Points will they get of a Woodlands hex thereafter? And how may Exploration Points will they get visiting a new Wilderness hex right after the Woodlands hex? It will be the third Wilderness hex but the characters have visited a Woodlands hex between Wilderness hex 2 and Wilderness 3. Shall I count the new Wilderness hex as Wilderness hex 1 or Wilderness hex 3?

You just count how far the hexagon is away from civilization.

So in your example, after Wilderness 2, if the characters continue moving away from civilization, they gain 8 EP (Woodlands 3), then moving further away into another Wilderness hex (Wilderness 4+), they get 10 EP. From then on, no matter what kind of hex it is, it's a 4+ hex, as it's more than 4 hexes away from civilization.
