Startup-Cards

Hi there,

I'm wondering how to use the startup-cards that came with all the material.
Where can I find the rules or comments how to incorporate them into the character creation?

Best regards
Jochen

Hi Jochen:

Great to have you with us.

The cards are included in the wonderful game box together with the dice.
You can use them as a means to randomize

Ruin Masters stem from a time when GMs not only let Pcs die but ripped their character sheets. ;)
Hence you can ease the brutality of the play during the first explorations with the help of those startup-cards. Use them as you see fit.

Cheers

So, letting the players draw e.g. 3 cards during creation (as I guessed based on your pictures in the kickstarter campaign) would be sufficient to give them a good start?

The example of the set-up on the main page of the KS gives you a good idea of a start that eases the way into the game for unexperienced players and PCs alike. You are correct there. :)
Of course, everything is up to you in the end. With more experienced players you should narrow the number of start-up cards. Alternatively you can hand pick the cards to support the creation of a specific character to steer the game more close to a RPG.

We drew 4 start-up cards for each player, who got to keep 3 of them. Worked well.
If someone drew a redundant card, they got to draw another. For example, I had rolled Upper Class during creation already and had drawn the Upper Class card.

That is a quite good idea. I love the take four, keep three approach.
